Open Finder or click on the Desktop. Now, look at the menu bar at the top of the screen. It should look like this:
If the word Finder isn't there, click on the Finder window or Desktop. It should change.
There is the Go menu. Click on Go, and 'Connect to Server' is one of the options on the Go menu at the bottom. Click on 'Connect to Server':
If the server you want is not listed, type the server address in the field at the top of this dialog.
There are several options for this. To connect via smb (Session Message Block), used the following format:
SMB is the most common, but not the only protocol you might run into. Others are afp (Apple File Protocol) or https (Hypertext Transmission Protocol Secure).
If you are sure the address is correct, click the plus in the lower left corner of the Connect to Server dialog. This will save it to your favorites.
Finally, click the [Connect] button to connect to the server. If you have not previously connected to the server the way you are, then you may have to type your username and password to connect. If you don't know your username or password, contact us to get it or have it reset.
If you want to save your username/password for future use, make sure to put a check in the 'Remember this password in my keychain'.
If the username and password are correct, you will get a list of available shares from this server. Click on the one you want, then click the [OK] button.
You should now be connected to the server.
